Kidz 2000 And Beyond's Child Abuse Anonymous Program

CHILD ABUSE ANONYMOUS:
The core or the Child Abuse Anonymous (CAA) recovery program is a series of personal activities known as "the steps". These "steps" include admitting there is a problem, seeking help, self-appraisal, confidential self-disclosure, making amends where harm has been done, and working with others who want to recover. Central to the program is an emphasis on what is referred to as "spiritual reawakening". emphasizing its practical value, not its philosophical or metaphysical importance. CAA itself is nonreligious and encourages each member to cultivate an individual understanding, religious or not, of this "spiritual awakening".

CAA believes that one of the keys to its success is the therapeutic value of sufferers working with other sufferers. In meetings, each member shares personal experiences with others seeking help, not as professionals, (though professionals can be brought in from time to time for more help, especially with the children), but simply as people who have been there themselves and have found a solution. CAA will be supported by professional therapists, psychiatric and medical services, but only at the request of each member.

CAA Services

Networking Groups:
These 90 minute networking groups will initially meet once a week in a private and comfortable setting. There will be two groups, a parents group and a children's group, both led by a licensed professional. The groups provide parents with an opportunity to share, compare, network, and learn from other parents who share similar experiences. The children's group will have play therapy, sharing and support.

Individual/Family Sessions:
Eight individual/family sessions will be offered weekly for those that require more private consultations for themselves or for their families. They will be encouraged to attend the group meetings in addition.

Workshops:
Our professionally led workshops will provide parents and children the unique opportunity to be able to benefit from the expertise of psychologists, psychiatrists and many other experts who work with adults and children with a history of child abuse. Our workshop professionals will recognize all different levels and aspects of child abuse of people that have been directly or indirectly affected.

Child Supervision:
CAA will provide child supervision for the Network Groups and Workshops. We do not want people's attendance to be limited because of a lack of childcare, which is often difficult and costly.
